The Terrors
regained second spot with a 3-1 win over Eastbourne Town in front of
an excellent crowd at The Saffrons.
After 15
minutes of a one sided first half, Allan Mcleod dispossessed full
back McKay and Paul Vines rolled a perfect pass across goal
for Jon Henry-Hayden to slot in.
Paul
Vines then beat keeper Nessling to a McLeod cross to back head
in the second goal ten minutes later.
Sadly Joe
Vines, making his comeback from a long term injury, was forced off
in the latter part of the first half. To say Joe looked keen to get
back into action is an understatement.
It could have
been four or five at the interval, the amount of space The Terrors
side were allowed was incredible. In particular, Dorian Smith had
the run of midfield, and the entire Eastbourne side seemed to
gravitate to their right, leaving acres of space for Dean Hamlin
down The Terrors right flank.
However the
home side showed much more spirit after the break, and Liam
Baitup ran nearly half the length of the pitch to pull one back.
The points
were sealed twenty minutes from the end with a contender for goal of
the season. The ball was cleared outside the area from a corner and
Paul Vines chipped the ball up and hit home an unstoppable
volley with his supposedly weaker right foot.
