The Terrors
completed a successful Christmas with a convincing 3-0 win over
Kingstonian at Kingsmeadow.
Carl
Hutchings was unlucky in the opening minutes, he won the ball from a
corner and managed to get an effort on target, but Rundell, standing
guard at the post, knocked the ball off the line.
The Terrors
then took a 14th minute lead. Jon Henry-Hayden was hauled back by
Simon Sobihi, the referee initially waved play on but changed his
mind when the assistant flagged. Jacob Erskine could not have
placed the free kick better, over the wall and well away from keeper
Luke Garrard.
Kingstonian's
Wayne Finnie missed a great chance to immediately equalise, heading
over from close range. However The Terrors were soon back on the
attack, Garrard scrambled across goal to keep out a Ryan Gray free
kick, and Jason Pinnock, following up, hit the loose ball straight
to a grateful keeper, who was spreadeagled on the ground.
The Terrors
then struck again after 41 minutes with a bizarre goal. A long free
kick from Dave King caught in the wind and it bounced into
the net over defenders, attackers and opposing goalkeeper. He may be
the first Terrors keeper in history to score.
Facing the
wind in the second period, the Terrors defended solidly, and
Kingstonian could not convert several half chances, particularly
from free kicks hit into the box.
The Terrors
always looked dangerous on the break and Jon Henry-Hayden
wrapped things up in the 75th minute when he latched on to a
misdirected defensive header before firing home. K's afternoon was
summed up in the last minute, when Rundell headed wide of an open
goal.
