Another quality strike from Paul Vines just before the interval sealed victory against a solid Harrow side. Captain Joe Vines will be out for a couple of weeks with a tendon injury picked up on Saturday so Aaron Goode returned to the back line with Craig Pitterson starting in midfield.

Despite a lowly league position Harrow are a well organised and competitive unit with Warren Whitely catching the eye, popping up all over the place and causing problems with his 40 yard bursts through the centre.  Points would clearly have to be battled for and it was the visitors who drew first blood after eight minutes when they capitalised on a botched clearance,  forcing Dave King to tip a low close range header around a post for a corner. Jamie Byatt quickly responded, shooting just wide with a 20 yarder, after dribbling past three opponents,

Chances became scarce as the half progressed as the sides cancelled each other out.  Only one move, involving Pitterson, Nelson and a final shot from McLeod after quarter of an hour was worth noting until Pitterson set up Paul Vines for the lovely low curling shot that broke the deadlock.

Vines and Byatt took centre stage as Tooting looked for a second goal.  Paul directed one header just wide shortly after the restart and then won a corner from another having latched onto an excellent cross from Byatt.

Harrows competitive approach unfortunately spilled over into something much nastier on a couple of occasions. Midway through the first half Martin had been cautioned for pole axing Mitch Nelson on the half way line and, twenty minutes from time, Fraser headed straight for the shower having conducted an even more cynical assault on Dean Hamlin in the same spot.  Stretchered off the field we wait to find out how long we've lost this key player for.

Terrors were clearly determined to make the visitors pay for this act and, as Harrow pushed for an equaliser, they systematically stripped them of possession and launched themselves forward.  In the final fifteen minutes Vines, Parker and Byatt each had a couple of goal attempts, the best coming from a move initiated by McLeod, who won the ball on the left flank, and ending up with a Vines header that bounced back off the inner side of a post.  Although the second goal never came there seemed to be a determination that Harrow would not be allowed to rescue a point and even the tension of injury time seemed just a little bit less painful than normal.
