Tooting's FA Cup adventure came to an abrupt end on a damp afternoon in Cheshire. Lady luck did not smile on the terrors and the contest was effectively over before half time.

Terrors fans were by far the noisier for most of the afternoon, despite being left to the elements in the only open section of the ground despite looking at a completely empty stand just to their left!

Simon Parker opened up with an early pot shot and, ten minutes later, almost gave Terrors the lead when he latched on to an Aaron Goode pass and beat a defender before sliding his shot just wide.

In between these efforts though, Dave King had been called into action a couple of times on what was to be a busy afternoon for him and it was just two minutes further on when King could only parry Turnbills shot back into the path of Thompson, who made no mistake from close range.

As the rain intensified Stockport started to apply sustained pressure, with King saving low from a header and then Joe Vines and Jamie Byatt combining to keep another attempt out before Poole rounded the left wingback, cut infield and slid the ball low past King for the second.

After a superb block by Matt York Terrors managed to venture forward once more, winning a corner that Nelson headed into the path of McLeod, who shot wide.

Aaron Goode was having a tremendous game and ten minutes before the break got in a fine low header that just eluded the post. Three minutes later he burst through the middle, but again could not find the target. Unfortunately just beforehand Baker had made it three with a penalty, harshly awarded against Dean Hamlin.

Just before the break King tipped over a long range shot to at least leave some vestige of hope for the second half.

Half Time: Stockport County  3-0  Terrors

Paul Vines had scored in each of Tootings five FA Cup ties this season and his best attempt at extending that record came two minutes after the restart with a header that just cleared the crossbar. A good five minutes ended when Baker ran through, brushing off several challenges before firing wide.

In an unexpected move Billy made substitutions before injury time, introducing Pitterson and Fletcher for Byatt and McLeod,  but the Hatters were again back in control and after Nelson had made a brilliant block it was another parried save from King that gave Turnbill the chance to pounce and score the fourth.

Baker missed a sitter a minute later, but soon made amends by setting up the fifth for Thompson, that took a wicked deflection to wrong foot King.

Parker headed wide with ten minutes left and Aaron Goode was just off target with a decent long range effort just before the end, but there was to be no consolation, save the generous standing ovation from the home team and superb supporters.  A great day out - THANK YOU STOCKPORT
