A freakish goal in first half injury time summed up Terrors luck in their first league game for four weeks.

The return of Andrew Howell probably persuaded Billy & George to stick with three at the back despite the loss of both Matt York (holidays) and Mitchell Nelson (suspended).  Colin Hartburn filled the third place.

Horsham had the best of the early exchanges, but were soon on the back foot as Terrors started to impose themselves, with Aaron Goode looking particularly impressive.

Despite having plenty of quality possession, chances were few.  Paul Vines had a couple of off target attempts, both set up by Alan McLeod.  Byatt and Goode also had shots, but only in the general direction of goal.

Hornets had one opportunity to turn the tables when, on the half hour, they caught the home side on the break. But despite having a numerical advantage they were unable to link up and had to settle for a corner.  The action immediately returned to the other half of the pitch.

Impressive debutant keeper Josh Pelling, on loan from Brighton, was eventually called into action five minutes before the interval when he parried Paul Vines' volley almost - but not quite - into the path of Simon Parker.

Into injury time and Hornets advanced again, this time to devastating effect as Tooting failed to clear a corner, from which the ball pinballed around inside the penalty area before finally falling for Harding, who opened the scoring.

Half Time: Terrors  0-1  Horsham

A tantalising low Dean Hamlin cross eluded two Tooting forwards before drifting across the deadball line immediately after the restart. Paul Vines and Jamie Byatt then had half chances before Horshams first attack of the half earned them a corner. However, no one picked up Seania at the edge of the box and he was able to pick his spot in the top corner and double the lead.

Parker immediately tested Pelling again with a sharp turn and crisp shot, but the sting had been drawn from Tooting. The slick passing moves started to fall apart and eventually gave way to primitive long ball tactics.  One such assault almost paid dividends when Paul Vines flicked a header into the path of Simon Parker, producing the save of the day as Pelling just got his fingertips to scoop his looping shot off the line.

One more decent passing move caused panic in the visitors defence, but only gained a corner from which Goodes shot was comfortably saved.  Ten minutes from time and a long ball from Parker gave Paul Vines one more attempt which Pelling turned away for a corner.  After that Horsham were able to hold onto the ball with increasing ease and they finally crossed the finishing line at a canter.
