Tooting let slip a two goal lead, but can consider themselves unlucky to have left the home of the runaway league leaders empty handed.

For the first half hour there was only one team in it - but it was not the home side - as Terrors showed their early season form and confidence, taking the game to Dartford with some neat flowing football.

Jamie Byatt had most of the first half shooting opportunities and, having had a low shot saved by Young when he connected to a Hamlin cross in the fifth minute, went one better seven minutes later as an almost identical move, helped by a neat dummy from Paul Vines, ended up in the back of the net

A frantic spell midway through the half began with another Byatt attempt, following some good approach work from Goode and Vines. Loosing possession Darts broke quickly and got in their first shot. Charging back down the other end Hamlin then grazed a post with a floating delivery, that might have been a cross! Mike Heverin, enjoying his first start alongside Paul Vines, then laid the ball on for his strike partner to round the keeper and tucked the ball home for the second.

Dartford finally roused themselves and started to run at the Tooting defence. As nerves started to fray, a couple of soft free kicks were given away in dangerous positions. Unfortunately the first one, from the right corner of the area, drifted across the face of the goal, eluded everyone and settling in the bottom corner.

Half Time: Dartford  1-2 Terrors

Dartford equalised almost immediately with a lightening left to right move and Terrors were then compelled to defend in numbers.  Emerging from a tough quarter of an hour, which featured one particularly fine save form Dave King, Tooting were desperately unlucky not to regain the lead when a powerful close range downward header from Paul Vines bounced of an unsuspecting defender on the goal line.

A couple of promising free kick situations midway through the period were squandered.  One was taken quickly, but no-one was alive to the chance and it was instantly given away.  The second was blasted high over the bar.

For the last quarter of an hour the balance of power again tilted in the home sides favour, helped by the introduction of a couple of pairs of fresh legs.  Six minutes from time two of those legs, attached to Rob Haworth, left the Terrors defence standing and one of them (possibly the left) fired home the winner.

Overall, a very encouraging performance.  All we need now is a bit of the luck that has deserted us in recent weeks.
