Terrors surged into an early two goal lead for the second time in a week. However, this time it proved to be enough to earn a deserved victory in this local derby. Absent were Colin Hartburn and Mike Heverin, both injured at Bognor, plus the suspended Jamie Byatt.

Terrors dominated the first half and took the lead after seven minutes when the home keeper failed to deal with a free kick and Sam Clayton was on hand to apply the finishing touch amid the resulting confusion.

Ten minutes on Paul Vines had a good shot tipped over from a Pitterson feed, though no corner was awarded, and soon after Sutton briefly joined in, necessitating a goal line clearance.

Sam Clayton, operating very effectively tucked in behind the front pair, was bundled to the ground on the edge of the area. Normally considered to be the exclusive domain of Matt York this time it was Simon Parker who stepped up to deliver a beauty into to the top corner, a dead ball version of his Bognor wonder strike.

Terrors camped out in the home half for the most of rest of the period, forcing several goal line saves and clearances, plus decent efforts from Paul Vines and Aaron Goode.

Deep into injury time came the first warning of what was to come later, when Gargan found a bit of space running into the box and launched his shot high and wide.

Half Time: Sutton  0-2 Terrors

Things changed dramatically in the second half as Sutton finally woke up and launched themselves forward. Fortunately the expensively assembled firing squad were only shooting blanks and a combination of superb defending and pitiful finishing enabled Terrors to weather the first twenty minute storm surprisingly easily.

Midway through there was a brief spell of respite when Aaron Goode had a shot parried. Soon after Simon Parker dragged one across the goal having cut in from the right.

Thereafter the off target assault continued and it took a penalty, awarded for a clumsy foul by Mitch Nelson (accompanied by his dismissal), to finally get Sutton on the score sheet.
