Terrors had to make do with a point against a much improved Maidstone side.  Missing were Colin Hartburn, still suffering from his bruising at Bognor, and the unfortunate Mike Heverin, expected to be out for six weeks or so with a cartilage injury.

The first thirty minutes were short on goalmouth action, with only the number nines of either side managing any sort of shooting attempt.  The visitors then took a fortuitous lead when O'Donovans shot cannoned back off a post,  rebounded against the prone figure of Dave King and into the net.

Tooting responded immediately with Parker hitting a post from a Hamlin cross, but were almost caught out when King came and missed a high ball into the box.

The Terrors equaliser was not long in coming though, and had a touch of class about it.  Jamie Byatt tenaciously won the ball on the left flank, galloped down the line and put in a low cross that Simon Parker picked up on the edge of the six yard box and slipped past Turner.

But, three minutes later. Tooting were behind again when Maidstone danger man James Pinnock found Hockton unmarked at the back post with plenty of  time to turn and shoot into the top corner.  Into injury time and Pinnock almost put the visitors further ahead when he chased down a poor back pass from Howell and nearly got the better of Dave King as the keeper tried to clear.

Half Time: Terrors  1-2  Maidstone Utd

Just like last Saturday the heavens opened for the second half, making the surface extremely slippery. Terrors almost grabbed an early equaliser when Paul Vines nodded a pinpoint Byatt cross over the top, but the striker was on target with his next header, directing a York free kick into the arms of Turner.

On the hour came another home scare, requiring a goal line clearance, but Parker was soon in action at the other end hitting the side netting with a powerful shot.

Whist the 'stones opener had an element of luck about it, the same could be said of the second equaliser - although credit must be given to little Sam Clayton for both getting his head to, and directing into the net, Dave Kings mighty hoof.

Tooting turned the gas up after the goal. Paul Vines had an attempt hooked away and Aaron Goode embarked on a couple of his trademark surges into the penalty area, but cased little damage.  With twenty minutes left Byatt and Paul Vines combined to set up Parker for a simple chance that was slid agonisingly wide.

Another low Byatt cross only needed a touch to score but had no takers.  Turner then saved well from a close range shot from Vines.  Ten minutes to go and a Maidstone header, put wide by Hockton, proved to be the final scoring chance of the afternoon.
