Simon Parker made it four in a row with a 34th minute strike that knocked the self belief out of the visitors.  Hastings had started with the confidence you would expect of Dartford's closest pursuers, despite having lost their last two games, and restricted Terrors to occasional raids.

Tooting had an early chance when Nessling rushed out to thwart Paul Vines, but only cleared as far as Parker, who lobbed the keeper, but not the two covering defenders.  A few minutes later Parker worked his way into the area, but his top corner shot swerved away and just missed the target.

Apart from these effort the first half hour belonged to the visitors.  Some solid defending prevented too many direct threats and their best chances came from a couple of free kicks on the edge of the area, both off target.

Jamie Byatt won the first in a series of corners with a shot that was deflected over the bar as Tooting started to fight back and soon after Paul Vines delivered the killer cross that Parker latched onto at the back post, stabbing the ball home under the diving keeper.

Vines nearly made it two shortly after, then Nessling had to save smartly at the feet of Parker.  Terrors were now looking the more dangerous side, but four minutes from the break Hastings created a breakaway chance, which was headed over.  Into injury time and Byatt dribbled in to the box before teeing up Parker for a shot that was aimed straight at the keeper.

Half Time: Terrors  1-0  Hastings

After a evenly balanced first ten minutes Tooting again started to threaten with Byatt getting in a couple of shots.  Between these, though, Hastings had a great chance to equalise when Phillips misdirected his header over the bar when he had the goal at his mercy.

The final twenty minutes gave Nessling the chance to demonstrate that he is one of the top keepers in the league.  A Paul Vines 25 yard piledriver was turned away with flying dive, followed five minutes later by an athletic tip over from the same player.

A second Hastings breakaway just before the end was bravely blocked out by Hamlin and King, but it was Nessling who had the final word when the keeper again got the better of Vines, racing way out of his area to clear as the forward chased down another Parker through ball.
