did not have to worry about last weeks danger
man, as the knee injury inflicted on Jamie Byatt
during that encounter has sidelined him for the
rest of the season (at the very least).
Dean Hamlin returned from suspension and Tom
Graves was given his first league start.
On a cold frosty afternoon
another tight contest was expected, so the home
side were delighted to win the toss and make
Dave King face into the low winter sun.
This small advantage nearly paid off in the 10th
minute, necessitating a scrambled clearance, but
it was the Terrors who just about had the best
of the very few chances created in the first
half hour, these being a couple of off target
volleys from Paul Vines and a weak Hamlin shot
from a quickly taken free kick..
Wilson-Dennis entertained us
with another swallow dive before Terrors best
opportunity of the half skidded just wide from
Vines following a free kick awarded for a
professional foul by Duku. Closest attempt of the
half fell to the home side ten minutes before
the break and was
cleared off the line by Hamlin.
Half Time: Kingstonian
0 - 0 Terrors
Paul Vines forced Tolfrey to
tip over and the keeper tidied up a penalty area
scramble twenty minutes in, but it was K's who gained the upper hand, creating
several decent chances. In an unprecedented move
Terror made a double substitution at the midway
point, presumably to give the back line a bit
more protection. Ten minutes later Howell
brought down Wilson-Dennis inside the penalty
area, but this time there
were few disputes about the foul as Traynor stepped up to
convert the resulting spot kick.
