The Imperial Fields ground staff were the heroes of the day, producing an excellent playing surface after days of snow clearing and pitch preparation.  Unfortunately the team were unable to deliver the full three points against a spirited Billericay side.

After a lively start by both sides Tooting attempted to commit defensive suicide twice in as many minutes by giving the ball away to Billy Bricknell and giving him a free run on goal.  He pit the first wide, but the second was placed low to Dave Kings right, giving the visitors the lead.

Paul Vines got little support up front in the first half, with no strike partner and the backup embroiled in the battle for control of midfield.  Immediately after the goal, he weaved his way to the edge of the area before being upended, but the free kick was charged down as far as Howell, who shot straight to the keeper.

Town almost made it two-nil after nineteen minutes with a low drive from wide on the right that King palmed away.  Terrors then started to wake up, sending a flurry of crosses into the penalty area, but none produced a clear cut chance.

Ten minutes before the break Walker sprinted out to close down Paul Vines, who had broken free on half way.  However, it was a poor decision, as he was quickly spotted by the canny striker, who calmly launched the ball past him into the middle of the net from 35 yards.

Half Time: Terrors  1-1 Billericay

Terrors had the lions share of possession after the break, giving Walker a few nervous moments - none more than when he dropped the ball, only to have his blushes spared by referee O'Keefe, who for some unknown reason, decided to award him a free kick.  On the hour Alan McLeod emerged from the middle, but his powerful shot was headed off the line.  Ten minutes later and another McLeod effort was palmed away by Walker.

However, it was the central defence of the visitors that controlled proceedings, comfortably snuffing out anything that Tooting threw at them and protecting their jittery keeper.  In the final minute Billericay almost snatched an unlikely victory with a breakout attack that forced King into another diving save that he smothered at the second attempt.
