Terrors five week winless streak came to a deserved end on a cold and blustery afternoon in West Sussex. Hornets keeper Josh Pelling had played just one game for Hornets earlier in the season before being recalled by Brighton. Unfortunately that match was at Imperial Fields and the young keepers performance won them the match.  However, his second appearance against the Terrors proved to be less of a success as, just four minutes into the game, a low Jason Henry cross slipped past him and fell invitingly for Paul Vines to tap home from close range.

Defending demanded concentration on a pitch that had been rolled flat, but offered no consistency of bounce.  Stand in full back Joe Vines also had the slippery Tucknott to deal with down the left flank and it was not long before the winger carved out a chance that required a goal line clearance.  Tooting responded immediately and should have had a penalty when Jason Henry was bundled over as he latched on to a ball from Simon Parker, who had stormed down the wing into the six yard box.

Joe managed to find time to head up field and on the half hour supplied Alan McLeod, once more at the top of his game, with a shooting chance that was deflected for a corner.  Parker then dispossessed Pelling, who was struggling to control a back pass, but could not find the target.

Just before the interval McLeod freed Paul Vines on half way, but the striker still had a lot to do as defenders were in close attendance. But, with his eye for goal once again fully focussed, Charlie rounded Pelling and calmly slipped home his second of the day.

Deep into the third of two additional minutes the troublesome Tucknott was felled just outside the area. Seanla connected with the resulting free kick to close the gap and set things up for an interesting second half.

Half Time:   Horsham 1-2  Terrors

The busy Jason Henry almost got his reward on 53 minutes with a low shot that Pelling did well to push away for a corner. Ten minutes later and the keepers reputation was fully restored when he denied Vines his hat-trick by holding onto his clever back flick from a corner.

The low sunlight at the other end was causing the Tooting defence a few problems.  However, despite the fact that Dave King refuses to wear anything on his head (unless it's a crown of course), Horsham were unable to capitalise on the advantage, with only a nicely struck and well saved snapshot from Harding to show for their efforts.

Midway through the period and Henry had the chance to make it three when he was put through by Simon Parker, but thereafter there was little threat from either side, which suited Tooting just nicely.
