For the second match in a row Tooting were unable to raise their game to fight back after falling behind in what is becoming a very disappointing end to the season. On a sunny afternoon that defied the grim weather forecast of heavy rain Alan McLeod stood in for the unwell Dean Hamlin at full back and Colin Hartburn returned to replace the suspended Aaron Goode

The early exchanges suggested that it would be a lively encounter, with both sides showing a keenness to push forward.  However, clear chances were few, with the first falling to the home side after ten minutes, when they hit a post from a free kick awarded against Joe Vines, who had upended the dangerous Olorunda and received a caution for his trouble. Almost twenty minutes had elapsed before Terrors carved out their first opportunity, which fell to Simon Parker after Paul Vines had dribbled to the goal line and pulled the ball back for him to drag his shot wide.

The bright opening was not sustained though, with little more goalmouth action until just before the break when an Alan McLeod volley was deflected for a corner from which Hastings counter attacked, calling Dave King into action, conceding a corner that there was no time to take.

Tooting grabbed the initiative after the restart, twice winning free kicks for fouls on the edge of the area that were identical to Joe Vine's first half indiscretion.  Both were wasted though, as first Parker and then York could not get the ball past the defensive wall.

The dominant spell ended suddenly when Olorunda got behind Howell and, despite scuffing his shot, was able to beat the advancing King with the help of a post.  Some desperate defending prevented the lead from being doubled immediately.

The second Hastings goal found the Tooting defence in a state of paralysis when a ball for the left was headed on to Adams in plenty of space, enabling him to shoot low before anyone could get near him.

Terrors only woke up in injury time with Paul Vines getting in three shots in the four added minutes.  The first gave Williams his first exercise of the day, winning a corner, the second went narrowly wide and the third required another save.
