After a first half full of the worst aspects of the capitulations against Hornchurch and Hastings, Tooting recovered some self respect in the second with a Paul Vines inspired comeback that came close to taking all three points.

The little first half drive that the Terrors did show was inspired by McLeod, today playing in the heart of midfield, but his shooting boots were not with him as a high punt over the bar after four minutes demonstrated.

Tooting were soon behind to another Richard Jolly goal as Carshalton proceeded to take control of the game, almost doubling their lead a few minutes after when Dave King had to make a fine save from Joseph.  Things looked grim as Robins carved out a number of chances, with only a wide Paul Vines volley to offer in reply before Ray took full advantage of a free header from a corner to score the second.

Terror's best chance of the half followed soon after when a low shot from Joe Vines, connecting with a lay on from his brother, bounced of a defender for a corner.  Just before the break Paul put a shot narrowly wide, but not before a wickedly dipping shot from Joseph had just eluded the crossbar, keeping home hopes just about alive.

The view from the terraces over the last couple of games has been that Tooting were not bothering to fight back after conceding goals and that this time they had simply thrown the towel in early.  Alan McLeod clearly did not see things that way and after the break the others came round to his point of view, spearheaded by Paul Vines, who charged down the right and into the box to tee up Jason Henry, who slid the ball into the net under the keeper.

Now well and truly in the driving seat with spirits clearly lifted it seemed to now be a question of when the equaliser would arrive.  Vines had a strong shot parried away by Hamman, who also saved well twice from Matt York, first from a driven free kick and then after scrambling away an attempt from Mitch Nelson.  Jason Henry, by now operating as a third striker, set up a volleyed effort for Paul Vines with ten minutes to go.  But as home supporters started to fear the worst it was Charlie himself who connected with a low right wing cross to fire home the equaliser.

Robins tried to make a final push, but it was Tooting who almost claimed all the points with a final flurry deep into injury time.
