Sun shining over south London and imperial fields and, while other headed for the coastal towns, we had Margate travel to us.

Margate started the brighter and on six minutes Danny Braken had to stretch high to tip over a corner ball that was curling into the goal. Tootings first chance fell on fourteen minutes when an Andy Howell cross fell to Sam Clayton who shot just went past the post.

The remainder of the half was littered with poor touches and misplaced passes, frustrating both sets of fans, until the final minute of the half when a deflected clearance came back over the defenders heads to find Paul Vines who rose under challenge from the keeper and managed to  flick it into the corner of the net.

The Margate equaliser was something of debate, a true goalmouth scramble with the last touch adjudged to have come off Joe Vines for an own goal on 54 minutes.

With both teams level and we have been here so many times before this season, it looked like it was going to be one of those days, but twenty minutes into the second half Tooting sparked into life and started to take control of the game, creating a number of chances, one falling to Paul Vines inside the eighteen yard box, hitting it on the volley saw it rise high over the bar.

Tooting took the lead on the 70th Minute from a Matt York free kick, Margate defenders poised to deal with the cross and the Margate wall preventing the up and over ball, Matt York saw an opening and nicely placed a ball into the corner of the net with a low drive.

The last fifteen minutes, the game started to open up with a number of chances falling to both sides and in the last minute of the game Margate put the ball over the line only to have their celebrations killed off by the linesman holding his flag skywards for an offside.

The Players acknowledged the supporters at this, the last home game of this season. Stephen Ludlow presented both Dean Hamlin and Colin Hartburn with a bottle of Bubbly for their two hundredth appearances for Tooting.
