GOALS

An afternoon to forget at Imperial Fields as Terrors failed to even dirty Darts keeper Andrew Youngs knees.  With McLeod still injured, the midfield platform was entrusted to Stanley Muguo and Craig Pitterson.  Recalled Jon Henry-Hayden started brightly with a powerful shot which was palmed over by the keeper in the third minute, and then a header, aimed straight at the stopper, from a Hartburn cross a few minutes later.

Andrew Howell received a yellow card for cutting out the first serious Dartford threat after 26 minutes, although the visitors did not test King for another seven minutes with a low effort which he smartly saved.  Both teams gave up possession much too easily throughout the half. Darts had been focussing their attacking efforts on the centre and right, with Noble keeping Howell busy.  However, just before the interval, McDonald changed tack, catching Terrors off guard on the left.  King blocked his first shot, but could do nothing about the follow up.

Home fans confidently expected changes.  Muguo was clearly struggling to adjust to Premier division football and Pitterson did not look comfortable operating so far from the touchline.  This left Paul Vines and Jon Henry-Hayden isolated. Paul managed several headed attempts, but all were wide of the mark.  Overall though, these were the only moments of relief from what was becoming more constant, if not particularly threatening, Dartford pressure.  Even so, it was no great shock when McDonald broke through again, this time on the right, and pulled the ball back across the face of the goal to provide Hawarth with an easy tap in on the half hour..

Myall and Pinnock continued to warm the bench as the game petered out without any suggestion, from either on or off the field, that things would improve in front of the highest attendance of the season so far.
